چکیده

Most of the applications in image analysis are based on Freeman chain code. In this paper, for the first time, vertex chain code (VCC) proposed by Bribiesca is applied to improve length estimation of the 2D digitized curve. The chain code has some preferences such as stable in shifting, turning, mirroring movement of image and has normalized starting point. Due to the variety of length estimator methods, we focused on the three specific techniques. First, the way Bribiesca proposed which is based on counting links between vertices; second, based on maximum length digital straight segments (DSSs) and lastly local metrics. The results of these length estimators with the real perimeter are compared. Results thus obtained exhibits that length estimation using VCC is nearest to the actual length. Keywords-2D curve, curve length estimation, vertex chain code.

Comparing the performance of length estimators by Implementation the vertex chain code

Chain code is fundamental for many applications in image analysis and pattern recognition, because it reduces the amount of stored data and preserves the maintenance of data. The most famous chain code which applied in many applications is Freeman chain code. One of the other kinds of chain code is the Vertex Chain Code (VCC).The VCC proposed by Bribiesca and it has some preferences such as sta...

Length Estimation in 3

Estimators for the original length of a continuous 3-D curve given its digital representation are developed. The 2-D case has been extensively studied. The few estimators that have been suggested for 3-D curves suuer from serious drawbacks, partly due to incomplete understanding of the characteristics of digital representation schemes for 3-D curves. The selection and thorough understanding of ...

ARC-LENGTH ESTIMATIONS FOR QUADRATIC RATIONAL Bézier CURVES COINCIDING WITH ARC-LENGTH OF SPECIAL SHAPES

In this paper, we present arc-length estimations for quadratic rational Bézier curves using the length of polygon and distance between both end points. Our arc-length estimations coincide with the arc-length of the quadratic rational Bézier curve exactly when the weight w is 0, 1 and∞. We show that for all w > 0 our estimations are strictly increasing with respect to w. Moreover, we find the pa...

Dynamic Parameters Identification of LuGre Friction Model Based on Chain Code Technique

We present a parameter estimation approach for LuGre friction model based on chain-code method. The approach employs shape characteristics of friction force-displacement curve to measure the similar degree, here it is Euclidean distance, between the original curve and simulated curve. Once the Euclidean distance is smaller than the given error, we can consider the final dynamic parameters are t...
